About Kumnandi Lodge
Kumnandi Lodge (Kumnandi means "that's pleasant") lies in the most beautiful part of Willowmore district in the Eastern Cape at the foot of Aasvoëlberg (Vulture Mountain), the most dominating feature of the landscape for miles around.
The modern lodge is conveniently situated only a few hundred metres from the N9 Main Route between Graaff Reinet and George, but totally out of sight and sound of it, on a fine dirt road suitable for sedan cars - an ideal overnight stop but also a suitable self catering accommodation venue for weekend getaways or longer farm stays or typical Karoo Farm holidays.
The east facing guesthouse with its spacious stoep, looks out on a magnificent vista of distant mountains over a plain, framed by mountains on either side. The sunrises and sunsets from here are spectacular.
Accommodation
Inside, the lodge has been tastefully decorated and furnished so as to be full of atmosphere with comfortable and spacious lounge and dining areas. In order to strengthen the farm holiday atmosphere candles and paraffin lamps provide light as in the old days. (Gas lamps as well as portable battery operated lanterns are also available.) The well-equipped kitchen is gas powered and has an indoor braai. There is also another built-in braai on the stoep.
One double bedroom, one bedroom with three singles and one bedroom with a double and a single as well as a beautifully designed shower room offer comfort and flexibility.
Activities
There are various farm tracks suitable for 4x2 and, whether driving, mountain biking or walking, you will drink in the beautiful and varied scenery ranging from mountains and kloofs to seemingly endless views across the Karoo.
