Speekhout

Speekhout is an organic farm lying in its own side valley in the Baviaanskloof, one and a half kilometers from the main road, enjoying exceptional peace and quiet under the protection of "The Crocodile" and other beautiful cliffs and rock formations. Willowmore is just 56 kilometers away.

Speekhout (Kigglaria Africana) is the wild peach tree which was used for wheel spokes, hence the common name.

Tree House

For a completely different experience try staying in Speekhout's tree house built in an enormous Karee tree.  The house can sleep up to six people.  There is one bedroom which can sleep up to four and a sleeper couch in the rustic living room. Above the double bed there is a retractable roof so that one can star gaze from the comfort of the bed.

There are  views all round, especially from the deck.  The small kitchen is equipped for self-catering and there is even a fire place in the living room.  The tree house has a hot water shower and flush toilet.

The Shack

Tucked away on its own in the bush is a bamboo shack which sleeps up to 5 persons in a single bed and two double decker bunks.  Bedding is provided.  A small kitchenette has a gas stove, sink, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc.  Hot water is supplied by a donkey heater.  The hot water shower and flush toilet are outside.

Bonsai Nursery

Speekhout boasts one of the largest collections of bonsai in the country. Whether you are a connoisseur or not you will be captured by the beauty of these living works of art.

Camping

Speekhout is all about relaxation. Camp under the trees or in the open, surrounded by beautiful mountains. For a breathtaking start to your day wake with the dawn and watch the rising sun light up the cliffs.
