Vero’s Restaurant offer travellers local cuisine such as roosterkoek with a variety of fillings. Veronica Maganie has been running the restaurant since 2005 with the help of her family and goes a long way to support the household.

Various women empowering projects are run in Zaaymanshoek. These projects are sponsored by the SBA (Stigting vir die Bemagtiging van Afrikaans) and the Baviaans Municipality and teach women various crafts and basic skills like healthcare, caring for the aged and for those with HIV, among other things.

The Zaaymanshoek community was approached by Cacadu District Municipality three years ago to perform at a TB Awareness Day. They quickly formed a drama group for the event and proved to be very successful

The Sewefontein community produces organic vegetables and herbs which they sell to surrounding guesthouses and the public

Baviaanskloof Craft Shop is situated opposite Vero’s Restaurant and sells a variety of Baviaanskloof local produce and curios.

Sewefontein Community Farm is situated in the Baviaanskloof and is collectively owned by 75 shareholders. The farm was bought in 2002 and boasts seven natural springs where tourists can sample the fresh mountain water and take a hike along the fountains.

Tryn Maarman runs a homestay on Sewefontein, providing tourists with an authentic experience within a Baviaanskloof home.

Sandra makes unique doorstop dolls from glass bottles which are clothed with all manner of dresses and materials.

Zaaymanshoek commonly referred to as the “lost city” of the Baviaans, is a tucked away community who only came out of isolation a few years ago.

Kathleen started producing knitted teddy bears in 2008 which she sells to bring in an income for her and her family.

Benita has an eye for the unusual and collects peculiar shaped pieces of wood and transforms them into statues.

Jackie Ruiters offers accommodation for seven people in her home on the Sewefontein farm.

Willem and Martha Maganie manage the Cedar Guesthouse and Retreat Centre in the Baviaanskloof and also own their own place called the Cob Cottage. The latter is a dream come true for the couple and was built entirely out of organic material during the Cob Building workshop held on the farm.
