Established in 2006, Vondeling Optel Crafts provides jobs for 16 locals who work full-time to produce works which are sold locally and in Cape Town and Norway. The 14 women and two men create jewellery, Christmas decorations and beaded wire angels. The artists are based in a centre in Vondeling (47 kilometres west of Willowmore) although they are given the option to work from home, should they have family responsibilities or problems with transport. They currently produce hundreds of angels per month in order to keep up with international demand.
