About Timbila Private Game Reserve
There is no wealth but life...
The diverse landscapes and lush vegetation of the Grootriver valley allow us to boast with 22 hoofed species and a host of other animals and birds. We are not a big 5 reserve, this enables you to get close to nature, and discover that there is no wealth but life!
Each facility is booked out exclusively to you to ensure total privacy. Our accommodation is fully equipped for self - catering, braai facilities (purchase wood at reception), braai grids, potjies, all kitchen utensils, fridges, towels, bedding etc. Our tented bush camps will ensure that you experience the meaning of Timbila, rhythms of the earth.
Game drives in your own vehicle is welcomed during the day. Some areas are only accessible in a four-wheel drive vehicle. The drives on the reserve are firstly a game viewing experience and secondly an off-road or 4x4 experience. We do not currenlty offer gamedrives with Timbila vehicles.
You are also encouraged to explore on foot, on unmarked hiking trail, seeing that this brings nature the closest to you. You will experience the veld and wildlife much more intimately this way. Bird watching is very popular as the area offers the bird lover a large variety of birds. The fact that the river has pools that always holds water, adds to the wide variety of birds found in the region. This also provides you with fishing and swimming opportunities. Swimming is allowed in the rivers and in cement dams.
